The Post-Graduate Studies Program in Biophotonics applied to Health Sciences has been approved as a Master’s Degree by The Coordination Office for University-level Personnel Advancement (CAPES: The Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education) Technical-Scientific Council for University-level Education (CTC). The CTC meeting number 129, which was held on September 27th and 28th, 2011, approved the Master’s Degree Program, and the meeting number 133, which was held on February 28th and 29th, 2012, approved the Doctorate Degree. Afterwards, The Higher Education Chambers of the Brazilian National Educational Council (CNE) of The Ministry of Education (ME) ratified both decisions, respectively as Administrative Rule No. 1331 dated November 8th, 2012, which was published in the Federal Official Journal (D.O.U) on November 9th, 2012, Section 1, Page 8; as well as Administrative Rule No. 11 dated January 4th, 2013, which was published in the Federal Official Journal on January 8th, 2013, Section 1, Page 4. The main purpose of both Programs is to prepare future lecturers and researches in the Health Sciences field. Professionals who have Health Sciences and/or Biological Sciences Undergraduate Majors Degree from fully accredited College Institutions (IES) are the main target for these Programs. More specifically, professionals with degrees in the following areas: Dentistry, Medical Science, Nursing, Biomedicine, Biological Sciences, Pharmacy/Biochemistry, Nutrition, Physical Therapy, Physical Education, Psychology, Aesthetic and Cosmetic Technology and also Engineering and Physics.
